Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has reported surviving an alleged assassination attempt in the early hours of Monday, January 27, 2025. The incident occurred when he left a club in the Victoria Island area of Lagos State. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Darlington displayed his car riddled with bullet holes, particularly at the rear. Visibly shaken, he accused an unnamed individual of orchestrating the attack, stating, “Long face sent killers my way, and I have not even posted anything. Bro, is this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?”
This event comes just days after Darlington’s release from Kuje prison, where he was detained on undisclosed charges since November 27, 2024. His recent controversies and publicized detention have sparked widespread discussions on social media.
Fans and well-wishers have flooded his social media with messages of support and concern. One fan commented, “You will live and not die. You bring joy to millions, and God will continue to guide you.” Another advised, “Leave Nigeria, please, and come back to New York where we, your die-hard fans, can’t afford to lose you.”
As of now, there has been no official statement from law enforcement agencies regarding the incident. The alleged perpetrator’s identity remains undisclosed, and investigations are presumably ongoing.
