The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 was a spectacular 24-hour celebration that ushered in the New Year across Lagos State. Held on December 31, 2024, the event featured electrifying performances from top Afrobeat superstars, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Vibez, and iconic rapper Olamide.
For the first time, the countdown was held simultaneously across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos:
Ikorodu: Ikorodu Town Hall
Badagry: Badagry Grammar School
Ikeja: Agege Stadium
Epe: Epe Recreation Centre
Lagos Island: Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS)
This multi-venue approach allowed a broader audience to partake in the festivities, celebrating the state’s cultural diversity and vibrancy.
The event commenced at 7:00 p.m. and continued into the early hours of 2025, culminating in a stunning fireworks display at midnight to mark the transition into the New Year. Attendees also enjoyed cultural performances, food fairs, and other activities that showcased the essence of Lagos.
