This accomplishment places “Mufasa: The Lion King” among the top-performing films of 2024, following titles such as “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Moana 2,” “Despicable Me 4,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “Wicked.”

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film serves as a prequel to the 2019 “The Lion King” remake, exploring the origins of Mufasa and his rise to leadership in the Pride Lands.

Despite a modest domestic opening of $35 million, “Mufasa: The Lion King” demonstrated strong international performance, contributing significantly to its overall box office success.
